A big part of Bill Hole for me was how quickly I grew to care about him and my mixed feelings about his different ways were emotional for me about the character.  He was lovable, but I wasn't sure why?  I didn't think he was really a stupid person, but perhaps more enlightened than most.  Sometimes I wished to be him, but my disgust of his apparent simplicity put me at odds with him as being as a man who never experienced much discontent due to his disposition.
